look savernake forest

The King of Limbs is named after an old oak in Savernake Forest, Wiltshire.

The album's title is a tree: the King of Limbs, an old oak in Savernake Forest in Wiltshire, a few miles from Tottenham House, where part of In Rainbows was recorded. Inside the CD fold eight trees are named beside the drawings, from Yggdrasil to Goethe's Urpflanze. Ed O'Brien offered another reading: “Rhythm is the king of limbs!”
