read no surprises video

Grant Gee filmed the “No Surprises” video as Thom Yorke's helmet filled with water.

The No Surprises single sleeve: a pen drawing of a house and a blue car with red target marks

For Grant Gee's video, a perspex helmet was built that could be slowly flooded. Yorke could hold his breath for over a minute; on the shoot he struggled past ten seconds, and to shorten his time under water the song was sped up and filmed at 50 frames a second. Released on 12 January 1998, the single reached number four.
