Song · In Rainbows era (2007–09)
Go Slowly
The recording on the In Rainbows bonus disc runs for nearly four minutes and never builds.
2006
yorke at the piano
It was on the printed setlist for the first night of the British tour at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, on 12 May 2006, and was not played. The band got to it the next night, with Thom Yorke at the piano, and NME's report called it “quite dark and bass heavy”. NME had him at the piano for it again at the Hammersmith Apollo on 19 May, the last night of the run, along with “Videotape”.
2007
the second disc
The recording went on the second disc of In Rainbows, the eight-track CD that came only inside the discbox. It is 3:48 of buzzing synthesisers and a guitar drone that never lifts, and reviewers compared it to hazy, ambient Pink Floyd. Marc Hogan in Vulture picked out a xylophone among the guitars and synths. The UCSD Guardian's unsigned review heard the chords and guitar figure of “There There” in it, with the drums taken out. It stays where it is and only gets denser.
2008–09
an encore song
When it came back in 2008 it was mostly an encore song. Its first outing of the North American tour was the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte on 9 May, and on 25 June it opened the second encore at Victoria Park in London. A performance filmed for In Rainbows – From the Basement went on sale on iTunes that summer. In 2009 it turned up again in the encores in Buenos Aires and Santiago, and the latest of its eighteen nights is Santiago on 27 March 2009.
