It is one of the oldest songs they have. It appears on the 1991 Manic Hedgehog demo tape, and they played it on their first BBC Radio 1 Evening Session in June 1992, in the Mark Goodier studio.
Yorke has said the song came from an artist who was imprisoned and spent the rest of his life painting alone in his cell. What he does with that is not biography: it is a song about deciding nothing can reach you, and the cost of deciding it.

The version anyone can buy is that BBC session, released on the collector's edition of Pablo Honey in 2009, seventeen years after it was recorded.
