On the Beach
Neil Young's bleakest record, opened with once in London two days before Christmas 2003.

the album nobody could buy
On the Beach is the middle of the run Young made after Harvest, when he had money, a dead friend or two and no interest in repeating himself. The title track is slow and unconsoled, and the album was out of print for decades, which turned it into a cult object.

london
Radiohead played it once, in London on 22 December 2003, and opened the show with it. One of several Young songs they have gone back to, and the one that fits them best.
