Something in the Way
A Nirvana song that fan lists have long attached to Radiohead, with no performance the archive or the press can confirm.
1990–91
cobain's closer
Kurt Cobain wrote it in 1990. The earliest known recording is a solo electric demo that runs in a medley with two abandoned songs, released in 2015 on Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings. Nirvana first played it live at the Off Ramp Café in Seattle on 25 November 1990, and it ended up as the last listed track on Nevermind in September 1991, with “Endless, Nameless” hidden behind ten minutes of silence on the same index.
It was never a single and never a fixture of Nirvana's set. It charted for the first time in August 2020, after it was used in the first trailer for The Batman, and entered the Hot 100 at 46 in March 2022, the band's first appearance there in twenty years.
the claim
unverified
This song sits in the catalogue because fan-compiled cover lists put it there. It stays flagged rather than quietly dropped, because the archive should show what it cannot prove as well as what it can.
There is no performance of it in this site's setlist archive, and no reliable source documents Radiohead or Thom Yorke playing it. Until one turns up, treat the attribution as unconfirmed.
