Live from Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (April 2017)
Radiohead played their second Friday at Coachella through two mixing desks, a week after a single desk had failed them twice.
14 April 2017
the first Friday
The first time, it went wrong three songs in. Radiohead were headlining the opening night of Coachella's first weekend in Indio when the sound died during “Ful Stop”. It went again in “15 Step”, which ended in a blackout, and the band walked off twice before the night was over. They got through the whole set in the end. Thom Yorke put the fault on their own mixing desk, its software or its hardware, and not on the festival. For the second weekend the crew doubled up, running two desks with an engineer on hand, which he thought was far more than the job needed.
In all the times we've played I've only ever had the tap on the shoulder during thunderstorms, so it was quite weird to have two taps on the shoulder.

the second Friday
The second Friday began about a quarter of an hour late and ran for two hours without the sound dropping once. “15 Step” reached its last bar this time, fourth in the set, and two songs later, with “Lucky” done, Yorke told the field, “This is where we get cut off.”
It was a different set as well as a working one. The week before they had played “Creep”; this time there was no “Creep”, and in came “My Iron Lung”, “I Might Be Wrong” and “Exit Music (For a Film)”, none of which the first Friday had found room for. David Brendan Hall of Buzzbands.la thought “Exit Music” was the song that won the doubters over, and noticed more of the crowd staying to the end than the week before.

Kerry Asmussen directed the film, and Radiohead put it out on 7 July 2017, on YouTube and on radiohead.tv. Spin noted it was the first whole concert the band's site had carried since it began in 2007. Open'er in Gdynia went up on radiohead.tv three weeks later. The film had a second premiere on the band's channel on 16 April 2021.
