Radiohead's autumn tour becomes a support run with Kingmaker

Radiohead play Essex University in Colchester tonight as support to Kingmaker, on a tour that has changed since Melody Maker printed their autumn dates on 10 October. The band's advert for what it calls the Creep Autumn Tour keeps that list's first seven nights, up to Bristol on 28 October. From Edinburgh on the 30th it is a different tour, with 17 nights starred as dates with Kingmaker. Exeter, The Venue in Oxford, Bath, St Albans, the Islington Powerhaus and Warwick University have gone, and the list now runs on to the Tower Ballroom in Hull on 29 November.

Soundboard tapes from Huddersfield University on 11 November and from Colchester tonight have the same nine songs in the same order, about half an hour at Colchester. Among them is “Faithless, the Wonder Boy”, which the fan who posted the Huddersfield tape calls new. At Leicester University on 7 November the band played the same nine in a different order, opening with “You”.

An audience tape posted as the Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton on 9 November opens with about three minutes of the band in the dressing room, talking, the fan who posted it says, about “Faithless” and the film Strictly Ballroom. That night “Lurgee” took the place of “Million Dollar Question”. The handwritten set list marked “Wolves” has “Lurgee” struck out and “Million $” and “Faithless” written in, but on the tape they play “Faithless” and then “Lurgee”.

The set at Huddersfield and Colchester
