Song · Pablo Honey era (1992–93)
Million Dollar Question
A Jericho Tavern song from 1991 that ended up on the back of “Creep”.
1991–93
a live favourite
The archive first has it at the Jericho Tavern in Oxford on 31 October 1991, and the 2003 site called it a favourite at the shows of 1992 and 1993. It is on sixteen nights, eleven of them in the year of Pablo Honey, the last in Chicago on 30 June 1993.
1992
the audition
Paul Kolderie remembered this and “Inside My Head” as the two songs he and Sean Slade were given to record as an audition, before they overheard “Creep”. Both ended up as B-sides on the “Creep” single in September 1992. “Million Dollar Question” is quick, ends on a spoken sample, and is plainly the work of a young guitar band. The 2003 version of this site heard in it the corporate mentality of a newly signed act, fat bankrolls and big promises, with Thom Yorke's own doubts showing through.
