Metal Hammer hears The Hollies in Radiohead's “Creep”

written up for the archive

Pippa Lang reviews Pablo Honey warmly in the April issue of Metal Hammer, and says “Creep” sounds a little like The Hollies' “The Air That I Breathe”, roughed up by Jonny Greenwood's crashing guitar breaks.

She first saw Radiohead at Kingston Polytechnic in January, before “Anyone Can Play Guitar” brought them to a wider public in February. She hears Bono in Thom Yorke's singing on “How Do You?”, and puts the range of the record down to five members with very different tastes. Her advice to readers is to follow them.
