Five or six hundred people shouted along to “Creep” and “Prove Yourself”, and heard six new songs. Simon Williams, who reviewed the night, names two of them, “Bones” and “Black Star”, and singles out “My Iron Lung”, with Jonny Greenwood bent over his guitar through the loud passage. “Fake Plastic Trees” starts on acoustic guitar and builds to a loud finish. Williams rates Radiohead a proper rock band that has kept on the right side of the credibility line.
Yorke landed awkwardly in a final burst at the end of “Anyone Can Play Guitar”, with Wolverhampton on Thursday and the Astoria in London on Friday still to play. Half an hour later his ankle had swollen so badly that a doctor was called.
