Radiohead nominated for a Grammy and a Brit within a week
Radiohead are up for the Grammy they won a year ago. The nominations for the 41st Grammy Awards, announced on 6 January, put them in Best Alternative Music Performance for Airbag / How Am I Driving?, the seven-track EP that pairs “Airbag” with six B-sides from the OK Computer singles. OK Computer took the same category last February), the band's first Grammy.
This time the EP is up against the Beastie Boys' Hello Nasty, Tori Amos's From the Choirgirl Hotel, PJ Harvey's Is This Desire? and the Smashing Pumpkins' Adore.
A second nomination came on 12 January. The Brit Awards shortlist puts Grant Gee's video for “No Surprises” among the ten for Best British Video. It is a single close-up of Thom Yorke singing inside a helmet as it fills with water.
