Radiohead are making their fourth album at a Gloucestershire country house

written up for the archive

Radiohead have been recording the follow-up to OK Computer since 12 April at Batsford Park, a stately home near Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucestershire, with Nigel Godrich producing again. The word comes from their management, in a statement to NME and a note on the band's announcement list, which likens the set-up to the last album, made at a country house near Bath.

They arrived with plenty already down. The work began in Paris in January, and there are demos from Denmark and from the band's mobile studio on the OK Computer tour. A spokeswoman told NME that new songs had been rehearsed in France and that a great deal is written already. We don't know how many songs they're working on. I don't think it's that structured, it's still early days.1 The management doubt the album will be out this year. The spokeswoman thinks early 2000 more likely, and the band are in no hurry.
