Colin Greenwood finishes his bass on “the song with no name”

written up for the archive

Colin Greenwood finished his bass part on the track Radiohead are calling “the song with no name” overnight, and Ed O'Brien got to the studio on Thursday to find it done. cozzie finished off his amazing bass thing on the song with no name......bass musos won't believe it.2 Cozzie is O'Brien's name for Colin in the studio diary he keeps on radiohead.com.

Alongside it, the band have been working on “Up on the Ladder”, a song the band have had since their rehearsals last July. Back then O'Brien called it “up the ladder”; one day it sounded so lifeless 30 seconds in that Thom Yorke stopped it, and the next Jonny Greenwood brought in what O'Brien called a “Missy Elliott” chord. On Tuesday it got good drums and a much better arrangement, in an entry O'Brien mostly gave over to a rant about Margaret Thatcher.
