Radiohead's “Everything in Its Right Place” opens Vanilla Sky

written up for the archive

Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky opens in American cinemas today with Radiohead's “Everything in Its Right Place” over its first scene. Tom Cruise, as a young publisher, wakes to the Kid A song, then drives through New York into an empty Times Square. The Daily Free Press reports that Kid A was one of the most popular CDs played on the set.

The song is also the second track on Music From Vanilla Sky, the soundtrack album on Reprise, beside Paul McCartney's new title song, two R.E.M. songs and Sigur Rós's “Svefn-g-englar”. Reprise's notes for the album call it a rare case of Radiohead giving their approval to a film.
