Radiohead's Hail to the Thief is out, and fans find it copy-protected

Hail to the Thief, Radiohead's sixth album, came out on Parlophone on Monday 9 June and on Capitol in North America the next day. Fans from Japan to Argentina are now finding that their CDs are copy-protected and will not play properly on older CD players and home computers. The United States appears to be the only country selling the album without protection.
The album has 14 tracks, from “2 + 2 = 5” to “A Wolf at the Door”, recorded at Ocean Way in Hollywood and at the band's studio in Oxfordshire, and produced by Nigel Godrich with Radiohead.
There is also a double LP, and a limited special edition, copy-protected like the standard Parlophone CD, that comes bound like a book with a fold-out map of Stanley Donwood's word-painting from the cover.
