Radiohead play “There There” twice for Later with Jools Holland

Radiohead recorded four songs from Hail to the Thief for Later with Jools Holland at BBC Television Centre in London today, and were asked to play one of them again. The whole show had gone through without a hitch when the floor manager, after a word from the technical staff upstairs, announced that “There There” had to be done a second time, and the audience cheered. A fan in the studio thought the second take had more energy. Asked by the production staff whether anything in the set-up had changed, Thom Yorke said his cheeks were much redder.
BBC staff said no recording had ever had tickets so sought after, and W.A.S.T.E., the band's mail-order shop and fan club, gave away 25 pairs. The programme, the fourth of the new series, goes out on BBC Two on Friday 6 June, three days before the album is out.
Live, “There There” has Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien each beating two drums beside Phil Selway at the kit. O'Brien seemed delighted to have broken two drumsticks.
