Thom Yorke to guest-edit Radio 4's Today programme

Thom Yorke is one of five guest editors who will each take over BBC Radio 4's Today programme for a weekday between Monday 29 December and Friday 2 January, the first time the programme has had guest editors. The others are the Brick Lane author Monica Ali, the former Conservative party chairman Lord Tebbit, the Daily Telegraph's radio critic Gillian Reynolds and Professor Stephen Hawking. Radiohead are also taking over BBC 6 Music over Christmas.

Each guest chooses some of the issues the programme covers and is responsible for up to a third of its output, and Today's producers and reporters turn the ideas into items. Kevin Marsh, Today's editor, invited all five. Judging from the letters and e-mails I get, everybody thinks they can edit Today. Well here's the chance for five of our better known listeners to prove it.¹
