Thom Yorke hints at EPs instead of albums

first posted on Treefingers by Jaro · rewritten for the archive

Hail to the Thief may be the last full album Radiohead make, Thom Yorke has told John Kennedy on XFM's X-posure. He is tired of the pressure and scrutiny that come with finishing one and giving it a name.

I think next I'd love to just do EPs 'cos I've had enough of this whole album thing

The band spent a long time preparing the new record and used computers as they played, preparing them for every eventuality. Yorke calls the result a very acoustic record, but has found that the band can make loud music with computers, and thinks that is where they will go.

He repeated the idea to the Toronto Star on 12 June. With four tracks, he says, the band could do something coherent without worrying over how a whole record fits together, and each EP could take a different idea.

I'm into the idea of releasing things where maybe people just don't know who it is
