“Planet Telex” is back as Radiohead end their Japan dates at Makuhari Messe

written up for the archive

Radiohead closed their four Japanese dates with a second sold-out night at Makuhari Messe, the exhibition centre in Chiba on Tokyo Bay, last night. They played “Planet Telex” again in the second encore. The song came back in Osaka on Thursday, its first performance since 2000, and has opened the last encore there and at both Makuhari shows, just before “Everything in Its Right Place”.

NME puts last night's crowd at 23,000. Seventh in the set was “Bullet Proof..I Wish I Was”, its first outing of the year; the band have played it only a handful of times since 2000, most recently in London in December. Of the two Makuhari nights only the second had “Kid A”, “Morning Bell” and “Scatterbrain”.

Com Lag (2plus2isfive), the B-sides and remixes collection, has been out in Japan since 24 March, and EMI Australia releases it today for the band's two nights in Sydney this week and two in Melbourne next. After those, only the Coachella festival in California at the start of May is left of the touring for Hail to the Thief.
