Radiohead record “I Want None of This” in a day for War Child
Radiohead are recording a new song, “I Want None of This”, today for War Child's Help: A Day in the Life. Ten years ago they did the same for the first Help, giving the charity “Lucky”, made in a single day on 4 September 1995. It later went on OK Computer.
That album was recorded on a Monday and in the shops by the Saturday, 9 September 1995, with Blur, Oasis and Suede on it too, and it raised more than £1.25 million for children caught up in the war in Bosnia. It set the record for the fastest album ever released, and Mark Waddington, War Child's chief executive, means to beat it. That’s why we have set ourselves the challenge of remaking history and releasing the fastest album ever… again!

About 20 acts start at midday in studios around the world, Gorillaz in Hong Kong and Kaiser Chiefs in Wales, and send their songs to one studio in London. Independiente release the CD on 26 September, with a cover by John Squire, once of the Stone Roses, and all the money goes to War Child's work with children in and after war. The tracks go on sale tomorrow as 99p downloads from War Child Music, where Radiohead's whole catalogue has been on sale for the charity since April.
