Zion I's Amplive to give away a hip-hop remix of In Rainbows

written up for the archive

Amplive, the producer who makes the beats in the Bay Area rap duo Zion I, is turning Radiohead's In Rainbows into an eight-track hip-hop album called Rainydayz Remixes. Anyone who paid for In Rainbows can have it free by forwarding him one of the emails that W.A.S.T.E., the band's own store, sent after the order.

The download, a zip of tracks at 320 kbps with high-resolution artwork, is due on 10 January. It has grown by two tracks since he planned six on 6 December. Zion, the duo's rapper, is on it, and so are Too Short and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien. The full tracklist and the rest of the guests are to be named on 4 January.

Amplive began with single songs. Within two months of the album's release he had reworked “Nude” and “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi” and posted both, with an instrumental of his “Nude”. His “Nude” takes its chorus from “Don't Lose Ya Head”, a new Zion I track, while his “Weird Fishes” keeps Thom Yorke's voice running through it.
