Radiohead's In Rainbows bonus disc leaks as the discboxes ship
MP3s of In Rainbows Disk 2, the second CD in Radiohead's In Rainbows discbox, turned up on BitTorrent sites on the night of Monday 3 December, as the boxes were being sent out. Vulture reported it the next day. The disc has no release of its own and exists only inside the box.
It opens with “MK 1”, which continues from “Videotape”, the album's closing song. Several of its songs were already known from the stage: “Bangers + Mash” and “4 Minute Warning”, first played in Copenhagen on 6 May 2006, and “Up on the Ladder”, which goes back to Lisbon in July 2002.
W.A.S.T.E., the band's mail-order shop, has emailed buyers that the last boxes went out on Saturday 1 December. Americans will wait longer than the British for theirs. Wherever possible [especially to customers in the USA], we've sent these by road and sea
1. Vulture guesses the leak came from a buyer in Britain whose box arrived early.
Vulture calls most of the disc filler, except “Down Is the New Up”, which it thinks was kept off the album for sounding too much like “Reckoner”, and “Bangers + Mash”, which it traces to Talking Heads' “Crosseyed and Painless”.
