Thom Yorke backs a US climate bill on Dead Air Space

Thom Yorke has posted on Dead Air Space, the band's blog, today, Friday 15 May, under the title “for US citizens (mostly)”. He points readers to the Stop Global Warming petition, which he says has over a million names on it, Barack Obama's included. A climate change bill is being talked about in America, like the one passed in Britain, and Yorke writes that thats a BIG deal. but i have been reading how the oil industry is investing millions of dollars in a PR campaign against it!² how utterly dumbass is that? how do these people look their children in the eye?²

The British law is the Climate Change Act 2008, the binding cut in carbon emissions that Friends of the Earth's Big Ask campaign pushed for with Yorke behind it. In Washington, the American Clean Energy and Security Act, known as the Waxman-Markey bill, was introduced in the House of Representatives today.

The day after Obama's election in November, Yorke gave away a “Harrowdown Hill” remix on the same blog. Ten days ago he posted a George Monbiot column on Peter Mandelson, for “UK citizens only”. On Monday 4 May, the bank holiday, the blog posted an unsigned “official office chart” of ten records, for an office with nobody in it except me the cleaner².
