Thom Yorke and Flea take Atoms for Peace to The Daily Show
Atoms for Peace played “Default”, from February's Amok, on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Wednesday 25 September, the night after their North American tour opened in Philadelphia. Music Times called it the band's television debut. “Default” was the song on the show itself; a second, “Harrowdown Hill” from Thom Yorke's 2006 solo record The Eraser, went on the show's website as an online extra.
Yorke and Flea, of Red Hot Chili Peppers, did the interview. Flea told Jon Stewart about the day an email from Yorke arrived asking whether he would play The Eraser live with him. And I went and danced around the house like an unhinged animal for about an hour screaming.

Yorke's side of it began backstage at a Red Hot Chili Peppers show, where he and Flea got talking about the record. A few months later he wrote to Flea and a few other friends.
The band he ended up with played with no guitarist, and Flea's bass took the lead. I could only think of Flea because Flea plays bass like a lead instrument.
3 What they made together at first was not what he had expected, Yorke said, and he called the band an experiment that worked.
