Jonny Greenwood says Radiohead will meet this summer to plan a record
Jonny Greenwood says Radiohead will meet at the end of the summer and make a plan for what to do next. Claire Dodson asked him about a ninth album, the follow-up to the band's 2011 record The King of Limbs, at the Big Ears festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, last weekend, for Nashville Cream, the Nashville Scene's music blog. Well we're meeting up at the end of the summer, and we'll make a plan. But, you know, we're a slow-moving animal, always have been.
6 In January Colin Greenwood had said the band were resting.
At Big Ears Jonny played Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint for electric guitar in a short set of about 20 minutes. He also spent a day rehearsing with the Wordless Music Orchestra, whom he had never met, before a show with them that he says he really enjoyed. He had heard of neither the festival nor Knoxville before he was asked to play.
Asked about being named among the greatest guitarists, he says a guitar solo that is not part of the song leaves him a bit embarrassed for the record. I never really liked guitar players, so I feel quite neutral about that stuff.

Next for him are more concerts with the London Contemporary Orchestra, which he has started writing for. He has stopped trusting microphones and speakers, he says, and wants to write for concerts rather than for recordings.
