Cover: Stanley Donwood, Slowly DownwardFaber & Faber published Humor, a book of Stanley Donwood's stories, today. It comes as a standard hardback and as a limited de luxe edition in a slipcase with a signed lithographic print, on hemp paper whose watermark Donwood designed himself from the crying minotaur he first drew for Radiohead's Amnesiac.
Donwood announced the book on Dead Air Space, the band's blog, on 26 October, calling the hardback “really quite posh” and the limited edition “really incredibly posh”. In a postscript he warned readers of his earlier books, Slowly Downward and Household Worms, that everything will be familiar because its both of those stuck together with new pictures and a fancy-assed cover
1.
The introduction is not new either: it first ran in the catalogue of Red Maze, his exhibition at Schunck in the Netherlands. Faber launched the book on Monday night at The Social on Little Portland Street in London, on a bill of readings, live music and DJs, and Donwood said beforehand that he would hand out 99 wage packets.
