The first night sold out, so BAM added a Sunday matinee. Los Angeles gets two at the Ace Hotel on 2 March, one of them sold out, according to Wordless Music.
The Wordless Music Orchestra plays with principals from the London Contemporary Orchestra, who recorded the score for the Nonesuch soundtrack album. Robert Ames conducts, Galya Bisengalieva leads the orchestra and plays the solo violin, and Katherine Tinker is at the piano. Selections by Brahms, Schubert, Fauré and Debussy fill out the programme.
The screenings were announced on 24 January, the day after the score was nominated for the Oscar for best original score. It is the third time Paul Thomas Anderson has worked with Wordless Music on a live score, after There Will Be Blood and Punch-Drunk Love.
