Thom Yorke signs Extinction Rebellion's letter on climate hypocrisy
Thom Yorke has signed an open letter, published by Extinction Rebellion, to the journalists who call artists hypocrites for speaking out on the climate. It begins Dear journalists who have called us hypocrites. You’re right.

The signatories concede that they live high-carbon lives in industries with huge carbon footprints, and that without systemic change their lifestyles will go on doing climate and ecological harm. They say stories calling them climate hypocrites will not silence them. The letter backs Extinction Rebellion and its non-violent civil disobedience, the cause Radiohead gave the money from [their MiniDiscs [Hacked] sale on Bandcamp](/news/2019/minidiscs-hacked-bandcamp-extinction-rebellion/) in June.
Brian Eno, David Byrne and Jarvis Cocker have signed with Yorke.
The letter ends by crediting the protesters' courage for bringing the signatories in. Thousands of ordinary people are risking their freedom by taking part in non-violent civil disobedience.
