Thom Yorke tells Stephen Colbert he has blown his chance of a knighthood
Thom Yorke was Stephen Colbert's guest on The Late Show on Tuesday night, there to talk about ANIMA rather than perform from it. The two last shared a screen in 2011, when Radiohead filled an hour-long special of The Colbert Report.
Colbert asked how it felt to be right, after decades of songs uneasy about government, technology and where the world is heading. Yorke said he had been looking at what was happening at the time, not at the future. It’s more overt now. When we wrote the album Hail to the Thief, that seemed pretty bad–that period of time when Bush Jr. got in. And now we’re here.

Asked for his favourite R.E.M. song, Yorke picked “So. Central Rain”, from 1984's Reckoning.
After Yorke gave a damning account of Boris Johnson, Colbert raised the chance of a knighthood. Yorke said the message he put out when Johnson took office was offensive enough to settle that. I think I’ve blown that chance.
