Jonny Greenwood is writing the score for Spencer, Pablo Larraín's film about Diana, Princess of Wales, with Kristen Stewart as Diana. It is set over Christmas 1991, while the royal family stay at Sandringham in Norfolk, and turns on her decision to leave Prince Charles. The title is her family name: she was born Diana Frances Spencer.

Greenwood has scored four films for Paul Thomas Anderson. Phantom Thread brought his first Oscar nomination. Hans Zimmer called his There Will Be Blood score recklessly, crazily beautiful2.

Steven Knight, who created Peaky Blinders, wrote the screenplay. Shooting has already begun and the film could be out as early as this autumn. NEON released a still of Stewart in the role on 27 January.

It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her.
