Laurent Durupt plays Jonny Greenwood's “88 n°1” for France Musique
France Musique has published a recording of the pianist Laurent Durupt playing Jonny Greenwood's solo piano piece “88 n°1”, which Faber Music published in 2018 as “88 (No.1)”. Durupt played it on 9 December in the auditorium of the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique in Paris, at Le bruit de la neige, a concert on the theme of snow with the Maîtrise de Radio France, the station's children's choir.
The score asks for the first of its two movements to be played like Thelonious Monk copying Glenn Gould playing Bach. The second sends runs, glissandi and clusters across the whole keyboard.
