The Smile give away a one-off 7-inch by record-shop lottery

written up for the archive

The Smile have pressed a one-off 7-inch of their two songs so far, “You Will Never Work In Television Again” and “The Smoke”, and every copy goes to a winner of a free lottery. Both came out as singles this year, the first on 5 January and “The Smoke” on 27 January.

Lottery tickets are handed out at selected record shops around the world from Saturday 12 March, while they last, and the band's website lists the shops. Scanning the QR code on a ticket enters it in the draw, and entries close at 11.59pm GMT on 24 March.

Thom Yorke and his long-time artistic collaborator Stanley Donwood designed the sleeves, which Richard Lawrence printed by hand, and the copies are numbered. A 58-second video the band posted today has Yorke and Donwood running sleeves off a 1965 Heidelberg platen press.
