Thom Yorke's solo “Bloom” scores a Greenpeace film about sharks
Greenpeace's animated film The Lonely Shark, released on 14 July for Shark Awareness Day, is set to Thom Yorke playing “Bloom” on his own at the piano. BrooklynVegan reports that the recording comes from a session Yorke did at Electric Lady Studios in 2019.
“Bloom” opens Radiohead's The King of Limbs, and it has been underwater before. In 2017 the band reworked it with Hans Zimmer as “Ocean (Bloom)” for the BBC's Blue Planet II.
The film is about overfishing, and says the world's shark population has fallen by 70 per cent in the last 50 years.
