Radiohead thank Ronan Munro, who gave them their first feature
Radiohead have thanked Ronan Munro on Dead Air Space, the band's blog, for writing their first feature, when they were still called On a Friday. In the early 1990s Munro ran Curfew, Oxford's local music magazine, which became Nightshift. After three decades he is putting down his pen. The post carries scans of Curfew's pages and of Nightshift covers from 1996 to 1998.
The band call early-1990s Oxford the village that raised them, a place of local promoters, managers and music lovers with Munro at its centre. They say his writing and support made the city feel like a real music scene, and that let its new bands believe in themselves. That first feature was a huge shot in the arm and felt like a very significant step forward
1, they write.
