Thom Yorke to introduce Children of Men in a Rome park tonight

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke is due on stage this evening, Thursday 2 July, at Parco della Cervelletta, a park in Tor Sapienza on Rome's eastern edge, to introduce Alfonso Cuarón's Children of Men and talk about it with Antonio Monda and Francesco Zippel.

Radiohead's “Life in a Glasshouse”, from Amnesiac, is in the film, playing quietly in the background while Clive Owen's character shelters at the secluded house of Jasper, played by Michael Caine. The song was left off the soundtrack album.

The screening of Cuarón's 2006 adaptation of the P.D. James novel starts at 21:15, and entry is free with no booking. It is part of Il Cinema in Piazza, the free summer festival run by Fondazione Piccolo America, now in its 12th year. The festival named Yorke among its guests on 27 May, alongside Jane Campion, Ian McKellen and Léa Seydoux.

Italian papers bill him for the night as a narrator and film lover rather than a musician, though he has scored films himself, Suspiria in 2018 and Confidenza in 2024.
