Thom Yorke plays “Thinking About You” alone at Avalon in Boston

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke played “Thinking About You” alone on acoustic guitar in Radiohead's three-song encore at Avalon in Boston on 8 October. Andrea Femino reviews the night, Radiohead's support slot with Belly, in the 20 October issue of The Strobe, the student paper at Fitchburg State College.

Pablo Honey had led her to underrate the band. She still thinks it a very good album, but the show was far more intense, and she credits Yorke with putting feeling into every song. “Creep”, which she hears as a song about death row, got a strong reaction, and “Pop Is Dead” set off some crowd-surfing before the band left the stage. She names “Stop Whispering” as the next single, with a video.

Later in the evening Yorke came back out during Belly's set to sing a song with their singer, Tanya Donelly.
