Radiohead's “Creep” loses Best British Single to Take That at the Brits
Take That's “Pray” won Best British Single at the Brit Awards at Alexandra Palace in London tonight, and Radiohead's “Creep” was one of the songs it beat. It was the band's only nomination of the night. Ten acts were up for the award.
The band have counted the nomination among their gongs for 1993 in the sixth issue of W.A.S.T.E., their mail-order and fan club newsletter.
Parlophone had a postcard printed for the nomination, and one surviving copy went through the post second class early in 1994. The front has a black-and-white photograph of the band under the Radiohead logo. The back says Radio 1 nominated Radiohead for best single, reminds the reader that “Creep” has won best single at the NME's Brat Awards, and asks fans to phone in their votes.
