Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood play the Beacon as a duo

Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood played four songs as a duo at WDRE's Christmas show at the Beacon Theatre in New York on Tuesday 13 December, and two of them were from the next Radiohead album, still unreleased: “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” and “Fake Plastic Trees”. On the tape, Yorke plays acoustic guitar and Jonny electric.

The night is the first of a couple of acoustic dates the pair are playing in America after the band's shows in Mexico, before Radiohead go home to England for Christmas. The radio station's bill also had Big Audio Dynamite, Frente!, the Go-Go's and the Jesus and Mary Chain.

They opened with “My Iron Lung”, out as an EP since September. On the recording Yorke tells the room the new songs are what they have come to play. Some in the crowd wanted “Creep”, which they didn't get, and the notes with the tape read the closing “You”, from Pablo Honey, as a sop to them.
