Radiohead play three unreleased songs at Jones Beach

written up for the archive

Radiohead opened for Alanis Morissette at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, on Friday 16 August, and three of the nine songs they played are still unreleased. Two of them, “Climbing Up the Walls” and “Karma Police”, are new to the stage on this run: the earliest known recording of either is from Great Woods in Mansfield, Massachusetts, only two nights ago. The third, “Lift”, has been in the shows since the North American dates in March.

An audience tape of the set runs to about 40 minutes and cuts in during the opening “My Iron Lung”.

Jones Beach is the first of two nights there, on a run of 13 American dates with Morissette that began at Darien Lake in upstate New York on Monday. The first nights of the run had other unreleased songs that Jones Beach did without: “Paranoid Android” and “I Promise” at Great Woods, and those two with “No Surprises” and “Let Down” at Darien Lake.
