Ed O'Brien rules Radiohead out of Glastonbury 2000
Radiohead will not play Glastonbury this year. Ed O'Brien said so in his online studio diary for Monday 31 January, to get ahead of rumours that they would. glastonbury is the don of all festivals……….but alas we are not playing this year.
2 He called Michael Eavis, who runs the festival, the man who throws the greatest party in the world, and wrote that it would be great to play another year.
The rest of O'Brien's entry is a slow Monday in the studio, where the band are making their fourth album with Nigel Godrich. The tape machine in the main room broke down, and in the other room “Dollars and Cents” gained percussion and a guitar part.
Eavis has confirmed it to nme.com, speaking after he addressed students at the Cambridge Union last week, and says Radiohead are behind schedule recording new material. Richard Ashcroft is out for the same reason. Radiohead last played Glastonbury on 28 June 1997, when they headlined the Pyramid Stage, three years after their first visit. It's a great disappointment. The last time they played I think was the best Glastonbury moment of all time.
