Radiohead to play a charity day in Oxford's South Park, with Beck
Radiohead will play their own open-air day at South Park in Headington, Oxford, on Saturday 7 July, with the money going to local charities. Jonny Greenwood, giving the details to NME.COM, says Beck agreed when the band asked, and he expects a solo acoustic set from him.
The band would like Lard, Radio 1's Marc Riley, to open the day. They did try for The Shirehorses, the spoof band he has with Mark Radcliffe.
We were trying to get The Shirehorses to play, but they're too expensive. I guess you'd end up hearing all the stuff we've stolen from them over the years

Greenwood thinks Supergrass will play too, because they are good and they are local, and more acts, local bands among them, are still to be named. He apologises for sounding like Harry Enfield's pair of Radio 1 DJs before explaining why the council are on side.
Sorry to get all Smashie and Nicey, but we're doing this concert for local charities, which is kind of why the council are up for it.

The plan surfaced in February, when Jim Campbell, who chairs the city council's leisure committee, said the band had committed to a July date and would pay for the park, and NME called it their biggest show ever in Oxford. The park will hold 30,000 to 40,000. Tickets are £27.50 and go on sale at 9am on Friday 16 March.
“Pyramid Song” is out on Parlophone on 21 May, and Amnesiac follows on 4 June. In his full interview in this week's NME, Greenwood calls Amnesiac the first of their records he has been happy to listen to once it was finished.
