Phil Selway opens the Samaritans' new Oxford centre

With Radiohead resting and working on new songs, Phil Selway opened the Samaritans' new centre on Magdalen Road in Oxford on Friday 8 February. He has been involved with the charity since the 1980s.

He told BBC news the building was very impressive, and that for an organisation that depends on volunteers the Samaritans are remarkably professionally run. The band's profile has let him draw attention to their work. For me, Radiohead and the Samaritans are polar opposites. They don't feed into each other but they do provide a good contrast.¹
