Radiohead were up for Best Group at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Edinburgh on Thursday 6 November, and the prize went to Coldplay, who were not there to collect it. Chris Martin was in London for the premiere of Sylvia, the film starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
Evanescence, Metallica and the White Stripes made up the rest of the shortlist. Christina Aguilera hosted, in a temporary arena built in Leith beside the Ocean Terminal.
It was Radiohead's second Best Group nomination at the MTV Europe awards. The first was in 1997, when the Spice Girls won.
