Radiohead rumoured to headline Coachella in 2004

NME reports a strong rumour that Radiohead will headline Coachella, the festival in Indio, California, on 1 and 2 May 2004. A May date in California would fit the plans Colin Greenwood described earlier this month, short visits to Japan and Australia with the touring finished by the spring.

URB, which has Radiohead on its cover this month, also puts them at Coachella, alongside the Pixies, whose return is itself only a rumour so far. URB calls the Pixies a big influence on Radiohead, and Thom Yorke, happy to be on the bill, is visibly thrown by the idea of them going on first. The Pixies opening for us is like the Beatles opening for us. I won't allow it.²
