Radiohead's “There There” video goes up on the Times Square Jumbotron
first posted on Treefingers by Jaro, Miro · rewritten for the archive
The video for “There There” is screening all day today on the Jumbotron at the southern end of Times Square, which puts Thom Yorke, lost in a dark forest, up among the neon of Mr. Peanut and the Cup O'Noodles sign. MTV2 in America is playing it at the top of every hour for 24 hours before it goes into general rotation. Capitol's newsletter to fans has made a game of it, telling them to get up and watch at 6am, 10am and 2pm.
Chris Hopewell directed it for the animation company the Bolex Brothers, mixing live action with animation, and was reported to have shot it at a third of normal speed, which is why everything plays back oddly quick. Yorke stumbles through the forest watching animals at a wedding and at a picnic until crows give chase, and as he runs, his feet take root and he turns into a tree.
