KCRW to release Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood's acoustic “Go to Sleep”

first posted on Treefingers by Miro · rewritten for the archive

An acoustic “Go to Sleep” from Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood's 2003 session for KCRW is on Sounds Eclectic 3, the station's third CD of live recordings from its Morning Becomes Eclectic show, due on 11 January. It is track six of 13, on a disc that also has Franz Ferdinand's “Take Me Out” and songs by Interpol and The Flaming Lips.

The two played the session at Electric Lady Studios in New York on 4 June 2003, on acoustic guitar, electric guitar and piano. They played it twice that day, each time to about 75 people who had won places through the New York station K-Rock. Everyone else knows it from KCRW's broadcast on 26 June, where the songs came between parts of Nic Harcourt's interview with the whole band, and from a promo CD that has gone round among fans ever since.
