Jonny Greenwood's Bodysong is out on DVD in North America

Bodysong, Simon Pummell's wordless documentary with a score by Jonny Greenwood, came out on DVD in North America on Tuesday, from Eclectic DVD and HIQI Media. Among the extras is an exclusive interview in which Greenwood talks about writing the score. Pummell is interviewed too, and the disc carries the whole Bodysong website. It runs 78 minutes and sells for $19.98.

The British DVD came out in February 2004, a few months after the film won Best British Documentary at the British Independent Film Awards. Announcing the American release, Pummell said, For me the power of this film derives from the force of numbers².

The film follows life from birth to death without a word spoken, all of it set to Greenwood's ambient electronic score. Philly.com's DVD column notes how often it lingers on the cruelty people do one another, and warns that it is not for the immature.
