Radiohead's DVD on sale region free at CDWOW and The Ideal Copy

The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth of All Time, Radiohead's DVD of 24 short films, announced in October and on sale through the band's website since December, has reached two other shops. CDWOW lists a region-free PAL edition at £11.99 with free postage worldwide, for despatch on Monday 7 March, and The Ideal Copy, an American mail-order shop, lists NTSC copies coded Region 0, which play anywhere.

CDWOW's listing reprints Thom Yorke's note on the disc, dated 2 September 2004. The films were meant as four episodes of Radiohead's own television channel, promised just before Hail to the Thief came out. The band asked for tapes on their website, got lots, and made some television of their own to keep from going stir crazy in the studio. In the end the films only ever went out on the website. Something about money, cutbacks, too weird, might scare the children, staff layoffs, shareholders.. you know.. fair enough.²

Besides music from Hail to the Thief and videos fans may not have seen, every episode carries Radiohead songs that have not been released anywhere else. The New York Times, catching up with 2004's releases in January, took the DVD for half scrapbook and half showreel, fans' clips next to the band's home-made footage, and decided Radiohead could no longer claim to be misunderstood.

Yorke credits Dilly Gent, who went through all the tapes, and Chris Bran, who edited them together. The films sat forgotten until the DVD. So we apologize to everybody who sent us their work..... SORRY IT'S LATE!²
