Radiohead to sell their Radiohead Television films on DVD
Radiohead have announced The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth of All Time, a 110-minute DVD of their Radiohead Television films. They are taking pre-orders at £12 on their website. The order page has the disc introduced by one Chieftan Mews. Channel 4 wouldn't show it, for reasons that remain unclear. The BBC were busy.
4 ITV and Channel 5, it goes on, pretended the band did not exist. There are two buttons, one to pre-order and one for anyone who has to watch Pop Idol instead.
Drowned in Sound reports that Stanley Donwood and Dr Tchock did the artwork and Thom Yorke wrote the sleeve notes, and that the disc will not be in the shops for the foreseeable future. Billboard expects it to ship around December, and buyers on the band's page are promised a copy from the first run.
The films first went out on radiohead.tv, the band's web television station, which began broadcasting on 9 June 2003, the day Hail to the Thief came out in Britain. The disc gathers the 24 short films and animations from its four episodes, many of them sent in by fans, set to songs from the album and to other music of the band's. A DVD of the episodes was talked of in January for a UK release on 19 April, but none came out.
This was originally meant to be four episodes shown on our very own television channel.

Yorke, writing on the band's site, says they were told just before the album that they could have a station. They asked for tapes on the website, got plenty, and made some television of their own to keep from going stir crazy in the studio. Now, he says, people can watch it when they like, videos they may never have seen and music that is out nowhere else included.
